"Swanston sits snugly on the lower slopes of the Pentland Hills adjacent to Hillington ski slopes and adjoining Lothianburn Golf Club. The course enjoys magnificent views over Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth and onwards to Fife. The course itself follows the contours of the land and takes a gentle climb upwards to the 12th tee upon which you stand on what is known to the locals as 'Cardiac Hill'. The 8th hole is reckoned to be the most beautiful on the course with an elevated tee down to a horseshoe green. It has a 201-yard carry and is surrounded by gorse bushes that turn a striking yellow in summer."
