"The present layout of Shotts Golf Club was developed in 1936 by James Braid and took until 1949 to complete. Shotts Golf Club was founded in 1895 and has relocated twice since that time. Ideally situated only half an hours drive from both Edinburgh and Glasgow and sited approximately 800 feet above sea level the course is a stiff challenge for all. On a clear day the views stretch from Tinto in Lanarkshire to Loudon hill in Ayrshire. The club has a surfeit of up and coming talent with some six Scottish Boys and Youth International Caps in recent years. Visitors should beware "The Devils Elbow", Shotts notorious 409 yard fourth hole which has ruined the card of many an aspiring hopeful. The newly refurbished clubhouse provides a warm and friendly welcome with catering and bar facilities."
