The course is a highly successful symbiosis of natural and manmade features and has been redesigned with great attention to detail by the Alberta based course architect Les Furber, who had a long association with Robert Trent Jones before striking out on his own. It is especially characterised by a trees cape typical of heath land and by extensive areas of gorse. The flat terrain enables all players to focus fully on their golf, while the short distances to the next tee make it possible for them to play a quick round if they are in a hurry or even do 36 holes without tiring their legs too much. The mild climate and sandy soil enable golf to be played all year round on summer greens.

The game
In some cases, the positioning of the bunkers makes it advisable for some players not to go for the longest club in the bag and to adopt a more tactical approach; but the more aggressive golfer trying for a low score will sense an interesting challenge. The constantly alternating open fairways and demanding doglegs, headwinds and tailwinds, flat and undulating fairways, three water hazards and greens with many subtle as well as not so subtle breaks call for complete concentration right to the last hole."
