Description
|
"Ilfracombe Golf Club takes its home high up amongst the Devonshire hilltops, and benefits from extraordinary panoramic views across some truly wonderful surrounding scenery. For instance, you can enjoy the vistas to be had gazing across the Bristol Channel, supplemented by fine and varied landscapes all around.
The course itself is a challenging one, and one that provides a stern but fair test of golf to players no matter what their ability. Suffice to say, there are plenty challenges on offer, and enough to tempt the more experienced players without scaring off beginners who are taking their first tentative steps in the game. Be sure to grab yourself a windchart too - when the prevailing wind blows, it takes golf balls with it! Ilfracombe Golf Club offers the golfer a golfing day with spectacular views from various places around the course. All visitors are welcome. This 18 hole course is well maintained an always in good condition. Who needs Valderrama when you can have Ilfracombe? Finish your round, freshen up, order your favourite tipple from the bar and take comfortable seat and watch the sun go down beyond the distant island of Lundy and the Bristol Channel. Don't let the hills on the course put you off, hire a buggy from the Professional's shop and drive yourself around the course
This is a course just made for late summer evenings, a moorland thrash across the cliff-tops with views all the way across the channel to the coast of South Wales. The 13th is a marvelous dog-leg par-4 into the sun while the 4th is a treacherous 80yd par 3 over a quarry. The partially blind par-3 18th is also memorable. There are other courses on this stretch of coast, but they hardly compare to a relaxing round of summer golf with the spectacular scenery that can be enjoyed at Ilfracombe."
