Description
|
"Designed by James Braid, the architect of many classic golf courses, Disley demonstrates all the classic hallmarks of a typical Braid design, particularly the use of cleverly placed obstacles that add extra complications to many of the holes. As with many other James Braid courses, tricky but negotiable hazards litter Disley and interrupt otherwise relatively straightforward shots. The eighteen holes are a joy to play and the slightly rolling terrain makes it challenging without being too exerting. At 6015 yards, with a par of 71, it is a comfortable distance to play and is one of the most enjoyable courses in the Cheshire area, even nowadays almost 120 years after it was first founded, a fact reinforced no doubt by its estimated six hundred members.
Disley Golf Club has been a part of Disley for over 115 years and is situated above the village with superb views over the Pennines and Cheshire Plain. Not only does the Club provide enjoyable and competitive golf for Disley residents, but its social side is active for non golfers and membership enquiries should be made to the Secretary. The Club not only welcomes members and corporate clients but also visiting societies who can enjoy the experience of a round of golf on this beautiful course and utilise the extensive facilities offered in the clubhouse. Our superb clubhouse offers facilities for weddings, parties and business events and enquiries from non members are most welcome too."
