"There are some courses that beginners, whatever their level, may well struggle on and Crompton and Royston is certainly one of those courses.

It may only strength to 6,215-yards, not long going by some of today's modern courses, but this prime heathland course is quite a challenge and is full of surprises at almost every turn.

Aside from the wind (it blows on most days) there are some quite long carries round here and you'll need your 'A Game' off the tee if you are to set up more than a few birdie chances.

The 17th, a cracking dogleg, will entice you into cutting the corner but that will provide a poor decision if you fail to make"
