"With the delightful market town of Bury St Edmunds often referred to as "the jewel in the crown of East Anglia", it should come as no surprise that it can boast a real "gem" of a golf course.

The parkland course is situated in 150 acres on the western outskirts of the town and can be easily spotted when travelling along the eastern carriageway of the A14.

The old Bury St Edmunds golf course was developed between 1922 and 1924 on part of the Sexton Hall estate, just south of the Newmarket road. The course architect was the respected Ted Ray,a former winner of the Open and US Open Championships at the end of the Great War.
The course was further developed in the late sixties at Tut Hill following the development of the A45(A14).
A further nine holes were constructed in 1991/2. There are now twenty seven fine golf holes, eighteen of which are accepted as making up one of the finest courses in the County.
The 9 hole pay and play course is no pushover either, at 2217 yards with a good variety of long par 4 holes and some very tricky par 3's.
From the large comfortable lounge area you can watch your fellow golfers putt out on the 18th while you enjoy a refreshing pot of tea or something a little stronger. The catering facilities are excellent with a large restaurant and bar area where you can recharge your batteries with anything from a snack to a three-course meal.
