Description
|
"Founded in 1900, The Boston Golf Club has been located at Cowbridge, Boston since 1962, having being situated at a number of locations in and around Boston previously. During this time a parkland oasis has developed amongst the surrounding intensive arable acres of fenland Lincolnshire. In 1999 the Boston Preservation Trust felt it worthy to award The Boston Golf Club their Pride of the Month Award when they described the course "as being a delight to the eye of the person entering and leaving Boston along the Horncastle Road. It acts as a greeting to those entering the town and a fond farewell to those leaving". In Lincolnshire golfing circles, The Boston Golf Club is acknowledged as the gem of the south of the County. Renowned for its quality greens, the course provides a test for both the beginner and accomplished golfer alike without the necessity of booking starting times. Recently, The Boston Golf Club has completed a quality refurbishment of both the Gents and Ladies locker rooms. Using the services of local craftsmen, A G Brown & Son Builders, M G Dales Architectural Joinery and Philip Cowan Interiors, quality changing facilities comparable with any in the County are now offered to the Club Membership.
During the summer golfing season, a number of Open events are run attracting players not only from within the County, but from all over the east of the country. These events include a PRO/AM in May, Gents Open Day in June and a Mixed Greensomes in mid-July. The climax of the Club’s Open season is the Festival of Golf, which is run in late July. This includes a Ladies Open, Gents Open AM/AM, Mixed Open AM/AM and an Open Pairs Stableford. To compliment these days, a number of local organisations and charities use the excellent facilities of The Boston Golf Club to stage their own Open Days.
Measuring just under 6,500 yards, the course has developed over the years into a mature parkland course offering a challenge to golfers of all abilities. Being located at the crossover of two drainage systems, water comes into play at a number of holes.
Being a Members Club, The Boston Golf Club can offer its Members all the benefits that golfers have come to expect. A warm welcome is extended by the friendly staff team to all golfers, both members and visitors alike. Tony & Lyn Jones, Steward and Stewardess, provide a wide range of traditional catering from early morning to late evening seven days a week. Being a Members Club, all profits are retained within the Club for the benefit of the Membership in undertaking ongoing improvements to the course and clubhouse facilities.
Whether you be a social or competitive golfer, your requirements can be catered for. The Boston Golf Club run sections for Ladies, Seniors, Rabbits and Juniors as well as the Club A & B Teams which both play in the South Lincs Golf League. All Sections play regular inter-club matches with other established golf clubs in Lincolnshire.
