"The building of a golf course at Brioni dates back to the 1920's and featured a nine hole layout at that time. The golf course was extended in the 1930's by the famous British architect Tom Simpson and his American colleague G.C. Thomas. The facility was designed to meet the needs of the royal families and the European aristocracy visiting the island.
But the layout felt into disrepair after World War II due to the lack of interest from the Yugoslav Communist regime for this sport, although Tito did much to bring back the island to its former gloss. Today, nine holes have been fully restored and put back into play, the fairways extending through the lush vegetation and mature trees of the island.
Pula Old course is an both an exotic and ecolgical course, In an island with endemic shortage of water, the original sand tees and sand greens were preserved as they back in the 1920’s and 30’. Several holes run right along the shores of the Adriatic. The green of the nine is set on a small peninsula jutting into the sea while on the fifth, the tee shot is played across the sea to the fairway."
